American Baptist Churches USA (ABCUSA) is pleased to announce the theme for the 2027 Biennial Mission Summit: “Courageous Unity: Rooted in Freedom, Growing in Faith, Forward in Hope.” Our 2027 Biennial will take place June 10–13, 2027, in Rochester, New York. In conjunction with this announcement, ABCUSA also reveals the official logo for the 2027 Biennial Mission Summit.
Held every two years, the Biennial Mission Summit is a sacred and celebratory gathering of American Baptists from across the country. One of the distinctive highlights of the 2027 Biennial is the opportunity to celebrate alongside the Rochester Genesee Region as it commemorates the 200th anniversary of its founding. Esteemed American Baptists such as Helen Barrett Montgomery and Henry Lyman Morehouse are among the notable leaders whose roots trace back to Rochester, reflecting the region’s rich and enduring legacy within our beloved denomination.
The Biennial Mission Summit serves as the national gathering of ABCUSA, offering a meaningful opportunity for all generations to come together in fellowship and shared purpose. It is a time to celebrate God’s work in our congregations, seminaries, camps, regions, and ministry partnerships—both within our denomination and beyond. The 2027 Biennial will be an intergenerational celebration of God’s grace, expressed through worship, learning, spiritual formation, fellowship, and collaboration, as participants exchange ideas, deepen relationships, and rejoice in the Good News of the Gospel.
The 2027 theme, “Courageous Unity,” invites American Baptists to reflect on their shared calling to live faithfully and witness boldly in a changing world. Grounded in a heritage of freedom, nurtured by a living faith, and guided by hope for the future. The Biennial Mission Summit will encourage participants to engage in meaningful dialogue, spiritual renewal, and collective discernment for ministry in the years ahead.
