K Street Lunch (Lincoln, NE)
The K-Street Lunch is an ever growing ministry of co-laboring partnerships with First Baptist Church, Lincoln Karen Baptist Church, and Livingston Baptist Church, all congregations that share the FBC facility. Additionally, they have developed new partnerships in the greater Lincoln area including Savannah Pines Retirement Community, The Barnabas Community (a ministry of Sheridan Lutheran Church), American Baptist Home Mission Societies (provided the grant money), Norland Pure (providing the water bottles). Other American Baptist Churches have partnered with them including the Second Baptist Church of Lincoln youth group.
Each Saturday volunteers serve 70 lunches. Each lunch contains: a ham sandwich (2 slices of ham with 1 slice of cheese), a packet of mayo, a packet of mustard, an apple, chips, 2-3 cookies, a mint, and napkin. Norland International provides the free water bottles that are given out with the lunches.
Each week is met with new conversations and opportunities to share the gospel in word and deed with those living with food insecurity.
